DUOS thrives as one of Durham’s leading musical societies thanks to the generous support of patrons and alumni. Not only does DUOS create music enjoyed by all members of the wider Durham community, but the society also provides many opportunities for Durham students. Going beyond the chance to play in a renowned orchestra, we create a community in which members prosper and build connections for life.
Your support will help to keep DUOS alive and thriving. Your contribution will help with the everyday running of the society, going towards the cost of equipment, music rights, personnel and venues. Additionally, you can help elevate the society experience, allowing us to run professional masterclasses, which are open to non-DUOS members. This is especially pertinent due to rises in costs over the past 5 years. We would welcome your help in ensuring DUOS can maintain a high standard and remain accessible.
PATRONS & DONATIONS
The DUOS Patrons Scheme is designed to enable anyone with an interest in the society to be able to support us financially. As an entirely student-run society, DUOS relies heavily on the money raised from the Patrons Scheme to enable us to continue performing the most demanding repertoire at the highest standard throughout the year. In particular, the Patrons Scheme allows us to maintain our links with top professional orchestras such as Royal Northern Sinfonia and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, whilst also allowing us to hire players from these ensembles to provide high quality tutoring for our players during DUOS week. This is an incredibly valuable experience for the orchestra, and a fantastic opportunity that would sadly be impossible without the generous support of our Patrons.

As a patron you will be able to aid DUOS in our work. To thank you for this kind support, you will receive special communications showcasing the activities of the society, individual recognition within our concert publicity and the opportunity to attend further DUOS events beyond our concerts.

ALUMNI
We also welcome all alumni of DUOS to join our extensive alumni community. You can stay connected with DUOS after graduation by signing up for our termly newsletter; receiving updates on past and upcoming events, alongside alumni spotlights and features celebrating the successes of former DUOS members. We are looking to create a more active alumni community, including special events such as pre-concert receptions!
Beyond this we also would greatly appreciate any support that can be given. This does not need to be through donations but can be any form that you are capable of. For example, if alumni are interested in aiding us in our efforts to hold excellent masterclasses by offering their services or providing contacts please reach out.
